10.30 – 1.00 Liberation Through Hearing in the Bardo
In the morning session Lama Jampa will teach Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa’s “Liberation Through Hearing in the Bardo”. Chokgyur Lingpa (1829 – 1870) is considered one of the most important tertöns of Tibet and as a contemporary of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo and Jamgon Kongtrul Lodrö Thaye was a central figure in the Rimé (non-sectarian) movement in the nineteenth century. The text has a dual purpose of preparing the practitioner himself or herself for the death experience and as an instruction manual to be read out to a dharma friend during and after their death, so as to aid them in attaining liberation.
2.30 – 4.30 Initiation of Green Tara
Following lunch Lama Jampa will bestow the initiation of Green Tara from the lineage of Shakya Shribhadra. Meditation on Green Tara is one of the most widely practised in Tibetan Buddhism.
The goddess herself is the embodiment of the liberating activity of all the buddhas. As such her initiation and meditation are especially effective means of awakening one’s innate capacity for enlightened compassion.
Everyone is welcome – the morning is open to all and the afternoon to those who have taken refuge. If you would like to take refuge please contact us to arrange this – email: bristol@dechen.org
