Vajrayana Pujas

We hold regular group recitations of vajrayana pujas whose initiations and sadhanas have been passed onto us by our Lamas. As such all except the Sunday meditation on Chenrezik are open only to those who have made a formal commitment to the Buddhist path through the act of taking refuge. See below for further details. If you have any questions about attendance at pujas please contact us.

Chenrezik*

‘The Benefit of Beings that Pervades Space’ by Tangton Gyalpo

Sundays 10:30 - 11:30am

As the embodiment of the compassionate energy of the Buddhas, Chenrezik is one of the most widespread meditation practices in vajrayana Buddhism.

Tangtong Gyalpo’s famous sadhana is practised regularly at all Dechen centres.

Uniquely the practice of meditation on Chenrezik, the Great Compassion, is suitable for people with devotion to the Buddha who have not yet received an initiation. If you have any questions about attendance please contact us.

Green Tara*

‘The Condensed Essence Sadhana of Jetsun Drolma’ by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo

One Saturday a month 1pm to 5pm (three sessions)

The goddess Tara is revered in all traditions of Vajrayana Buddhism as the embodiment of the liberating activity of all buddhas. As such her initiation and meditation are especially effective means of awakening one’s innate capacity for enlightened compassion.

These afternoons are an opportunity for those who are new to the practice to familiarise themselves with it, and for more experienced practitioners to enjoy some additional time on it. You may come along to as many sessions as you wish. Tea and coffee will be available during the breaks. Please email london@dechen.org if you have any questions.

*You are welcome to sit in on this event but to do the practice you need to have received the relevant initiation and reading transmission.

Gonkar*

‘ The Cycle of Gonpo Yizhin Norbu’ by Sangye Püntsok

One Saturday a month 12 noon to 3pm (two sessions)

Gonpo Yizhin Norbu (Gonkar) is the wealth and protection bestowing emanation of Chenrezik. His practice was originally transmitted in the Shangpa Kagyu lineage and later preserved in the Sakya tradition where it is relied upon by many meditators.
